2008 NBA Mock Draft
*Draft Order Pending lottery and playoffs*
1.
Miami Heat - Derrick Rose, PG, Memphis
-The most dynamic player in the draft and one of the best PG's in recent history. He is a very different player from Chris Paul but look for him to make a similar type impact at the next level. Rose and Dwayne Wade paired up would make one of the elite backcourts in the NBA.
2.
Seattle SuperSonics - Michael Beasley, PF, Kansas State
-Record breaking freshman that has all the tools to be a great player at the next level. Kevin Durant and Beasley paired up could make an elite combo for players in a few years when they get a supporting cast.
3.
Memphis Grizzlies - Brook Lopez, C, Stanford
-After shipping away Pau Gasol Memphis has no low post presence what so ever. Lopez's stock has soared after a great regular season and good NCAA tournament. Very complete player as he has great touch around the basket and is also a solid defender.
4.
Minnesota Timberwolves - Jerryd Bayless, PG, Arizona
-Very athletic combo guard that can score at will. Will need to improve on his ball handling skills and decision making to become a complete point guard but that should come over time.
5.
New York Knicks - O.J. Mayo, SG, USC
-The Knicks have a bunch of guys that all they do is score. Mayo has been labeled as that type of player but I disagree. Mayo is a high-effort guy that is very tenacious on the defensive end. However, he is going to have to be more of a team player to be a star at the next level.
6.
Milwaukee Bucks - Eric Gordon, SG, Indiana
-Gordon stuggled down the strech but he had and injury and was probably rattled after the Kelvin Sampson ordeal. When he is on he is terrific. He is a elite athlete that can drive to the basket, and can also be a deadly shooter from beyond the 3-pt line.
7.
L.A. Clippers - Anthony Randolph, SF, LSU
-This is pick is strictly on upside. Randolph needs to bulk up a bit but if he can do that he could be a Lamar Odom type player at the next level.
8.
Chicago Bulls - DeAndre Jordan, C, Texas A&M
-The Bulls would have prefered a point guard here but after Rose and Bayless there is nobdoy worth taking here. Instead, they go with a high upside player that has all the tools to be an all-star at the next level. Very athletic for a center and runs the floor like a point guard.
9.
Charlotte Bobcats - Kevin Love, C, UCLA
-Emeka Okafor's contract is going to be up soon so they might need his replacement. Love may not ever be a star at the next level but he is a big-body that can also shoot from the outside.
10.
New Jersey Nets - Darrell Arthur, PF, Kansas
-Arthur's stock has soared after a fantastic tournament and champioship game. Good post skills, sold mid-range jumper, and is also a very good defender. Would come in and immediatly start for the Nets.
11.
Indiana Pacers - Danilo Gallinari, SF, Italy
12.
Sacramento Kings - Joe Alexander, SF, West Virginia
13.
Portland Trailblazers - Russell Westbrook, SG, UCLA
14.
Golden State Warriors - Nicolas Batum, SG, France
15.
Phoenix Suns - Chase Budinger, SG, Arizona
16.
Philadelphia 76ers - Donte Greene, PF, Syracuse
17.
Toronto Raptors - Chris Douglas Roberts, SF, Memphis
18.
Washington Wizards - D.J. Augustin, PG, Texas
19.
Cleveland Cavaliers - JaVale McGee, C, Nevada
20.
Denver Nuggets - Jason Thompson, PF, Rider
21.
New Jersey Nets - Kosta Koufos, C, Ohio State
22.
Orlando Magic - Courntey Lee, SF, Western Kentucky
23.
Utah Jazz - Roy Hibbert, C, Georgetown
24.

25.

26.
San Antonio Spurs - Robin Lopez, C, Stanford
27.

28.
